On The Road Again

Dear Smirkus Family and Friends,

Well, we are on the road again! We have just bid adieu to St. Johnsbury and are enroute to our next tour stop, Hanover, NH. But we can’t go down the road without filling you in on all the excitement and fun that was had in good ‘ole St. J. We had four fantastic shows and the crowds were phenomenal! Thanks to all of you who attended and speaking of attendance, special shout outs to Alla Youdina, former Circus Smirkus coach who attended the July, 8 Matinee, our very own Circus Smirkus Camp, as well as, former Ringling Brothers clowns who attended the 6 pm show.

We were so excited to have the 2015 Circus Smirkus Camp Session 2 crew join us for our 6 pm show July 8, 2015.

Alla was accompanied by Smirkus founder Rob Mermin and after watching the show met in the ring with the Troupers. Born in the former Soviet Union, Alla began her career as an acrobatic skater and aerialist with the Moscow Circus on Ice and went on to perform in Madison Square Garden and later became the Creative Director for Ringling Bros. It was an amazing experience to hear her and Rob regale the Troupers with stories from the “old days” of the KGB, Russian mob and a very special performance hosted by Alla in Russia.

Not only were the shows filled with special friends and guests but the lot was a busy day for media yesterday, July, 9. We had Alaina Pinto from local VT station Fox 44/Abc 22 do a live morning broadcast that you can view clips from here.  In addition, local VT channel 3 WCAX came out and also did a lovely piece featuring Troupers, Ben Kaufman and Liam Gundlach, which you can view here.

Continuing on the “busy bee” trend the Troupers will be giving a sneak peek performance at the King Arthur Flour Bakery & Cafe in Norwich, VT. Tickets to upcoming shows will be for sale on site. And, King Arthur Flour has generously offered a free circus-themed cookie if you bring in your Smirkus ticket stubs from today through July 18th! So, if you didn’t make it out to St. Johnsbury and you can’t make it to Hanover and you need to scratch your Smirkus itch, come see us at King Arthur Flour. To find out more information, click here.

Well I got to run to King Arthur Flour, hope to see you there!

On the road again

Goin’ places that I’ve never been

Seein’ things that I may never see again

And I can’t wait to get on the road again

On the road again

Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway

We’re the best of friends

Insisting that the world keep turning our way and our way
