A Smirkling is any kid six
to nine years old who needs an easy introduction
to the summer circus camp experience before
leaping in for a full week or two away from
home.
2 Magical Days
Smirkling Camp begins at 8:30 am on Friday,
and concludes the following day, Saturday with
a circus demonstration at 3:30 pm. There
is no day camp option because the overnight
stay, a gentle introduction to sleeping away
from home, is an integral part of the camp experience.
In two full days kids get a real summer Circus
Smirkus camp experience, complete with a theme
dinner and pie day.
A Special Sampling
of Skills
Smirklings get a chance to try all the basic
circus skills:
manipulations (scarves and spinning plates –
the precursors to juggling), balance (low wire
and rolling globe), aerials (Spanish Web, Lyra,
and static trapeze), tumbling (acrobatics),
and lots and lots of clowning.
They even get a chance to "pie"
the coaches and counselors!
Of course, our usual strict safety procedures
are always in full force.
