All applicants are expected to excel in at least one, and have a basic knowledge of at least three, of the following skills: balance, acrobatics, aerials, clowning, juggling, styling and smiling/stage presence.

Video audition required.

Applicable Programs:

  1. Session IV Junior Road Show – Enthusiastic campers ages 12 to 16 who are interested in performing are encouraged to register and audition for this opportunity. Those selected for this small team-oriented program will work closely as a group with coaches to produce a 30-minute show in front of live audiences throughout the session.
  2. Session V Ensemble – This session is for experienced circus artists ages 13 to 18. Those accepted into this program must possess the initiative and maturity to collaborate with their peers in creating a circus show and be capable of setting and working toward personal and group goals.
  3. Session V Road Show – Road Show is a group of 10 Smirkus campers, ages 14 to 18, who perform for organizations around Vermont, such as nursing homes, childcare centers, farmer’s markets, other camps, a Church Street performance, and other outdoor festivals. Those selected for this vigorous and rewarding program work closely as a group with coaches to produce a 30-minute show.
  4. Session V Aerial Acts – With the assistance of the coaches and staff, campers will develop a 2-3 minute aerials act, by themselves or with a partner, which can be used for auditions and/or performances outside of camp. Acts will also be featured in live performance at the end of the camp session. Ages 14 to 18.
